Simoné's Biography

Simoné Smalberger was born on the 23rd of August 1995 in a small town called Thabazimbi. Her first time performing was at the age of 11 at het primary school, Eugene N Marais. She started competing in a variety of drama and singing competitions, like the Eistedfodd, Abrakadabra and ATKV Cultural Competitions and Shows. She was also part of her school choir who competed at these competitions from the age of six (Grade 1) where she was awarded with Diamond and Gold Awards. She was also awarded the title of Culture and Drama Student in 2008.

Simoné was a provincial athlete and South African champion heptathlon athlete during her school career. She also received honour colours for academics, arts, culture and sport.

Simoné is currently studying Drama and Theatre at the University of Stellenbosch. Her dream is to graduate at the end of 2017 with a double major in BA Drama and Psychology. She will then apply to do her Honours in Drama therapy. Her ultimate goal is to start her own drama therapy practise for down-syndrome children and in that way enhance their living and survival standards.

While studying, Simoné performs and sings at a variety of local events and are invited to perform at a variety of different occasions. Her debut album is in the process of being released in 2017. Vlam van Hoop contains a variety of genres as well as covers and original compositions. Simoné have been writing her own songs since the age of 14, and six of these songs will be available to the public on the Album.

'I started singing on the age of five in my grandparents' living room. My sister and I used to dress up in my grandmothers old clothes and perform for them. My favourite song was My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion.

My aim is to inspire people with my music and theatre pieces. I fell in love with drama and music because it is a way of escaping reality and experiencing the beauty of life.'

Simoné Smalberger's debut album will be available on 17 June 2017 in stores. This album includes some of Simoné own tracks.
